Costs Savings at MedicalSingapore.com
Singapore represents considerable cost savings in comparison to
the United States (U.S.A) and Europe. The quality of medical
professionals in Singapore makes it unique proposition. Most of the
medical professionals practising in Singapore have been educated in
western countries which gives them the experience and expertise.
Singapore's healthcare services are built on a heritage of excellent
quality, safety and trustworthiness, coupled with advanced research and
international accreditation, and is Asia's leading medical hub. Nine
hospitals and two medical centres in Singapore have obtained Joint
Commission International (JCI) accreditation. JCI is the main hospital
accreditation agency in the United States.
People choose Singapore as their medical travel destination for relatively affordable quality healthcare services in a clean cosmopolitan city for
a peace of mind. Singapore made news for many complex and innovative procedures such as
the separation of conjoined twins and tooth-in-eye surgery. The
successful separation of the 10-month-old Nepalese conjoined twins in
2001 puts Singapore's medical expertise onto the World's headlines.
Singapore has since accomplished many more milestones both in Asia and
in the world arena.
Here is a comparison of the costs of medical procedures between USA and
Singapore
| Procedure (Cost in USD) | USA | Singapore | % Savings | | Coronary
Angiography | 6,000 | 1,500 | 75% | | Coronary
Angioplasty | 42,000 | 11,500 | 73% | | Coronary
Artery Bypass | 55,000 | 13,000 | 76% | | Face Lift | 20,000 | 7,000 | 65% | | Hip
Replacement | 24,000 | 16,000 | 33% |

Reasons for Cost Difference
The huge price difference between the costs of medical procedures are primarily arising due to -:
1. High costs of Insurance Industry - Most of the high costs in
USA/UK are arising from the high costs associated with the whole
medical system of insurance and hospitals that is prevelant in the
western society.
2. Medical Liability - In the United States, doctors and hospitals
must carry highly expensive medical malpractice insurance policies. In
contrast, when you undergo a surgical procedure as a medical tourist,
you save a fortune by essentially
not funding the legal fees, settlements and malpractice insurance costs
normally found in a U.S.-based healthcare practice.
