Singapore medicalArab Street
Arab Street or Kampong Glam area is a very interesting area of Singapore. It is also named as the Muslim center of Singapore. This area has beautiful old shop houses that line the streets. The highlight of the area is the grand Sultan Mosque, a fantastic building with its impressive gold dome and huge prayer hall. Arab Street itself is a riot of colorful textiles from all over Asia at very low prices. Some of the most visible items for sale are the baskets and other cane, straw, rattan and pandan leaf goods spilling out onto the pavements - from baby cradles to floor mats, hanging chairs to serving trays. These shops also stock interesting camel skin bags, cloisonn� boxes, sewing kits, and fishing tackle items for both the amateur and the professional angler.


This is one of the motivations of health travellers along with world class medical infrastrcuture. A few days can be used in sight seeing by the medical tourist.
 
Asian Civilizations Museum  

The Asian Civilizations Museum is the first museum in this region, which presents an integrated and comprehensive perspective of pan-Asia culture and traditions. The ACM is currently housed in the Empress Place. The huge building has an area of about fourteen thousand square meters with eleven galleries showcasing over thirteen hundred artifacts from the growing collection of the museum. You will find exquisite Islamic Calligraphy, tribal woodcarvings, Chinese relics, jades, Sri Lankan figurine of Buddha, paintings, bronzes and ceramics. Apart from these the exhibitions on the Chinese history, Peranakan heritage, Singapore River as well as the authentic wedding chamber act as the major crowd puller for the Asian Civilizations Museum.



Singapore seeks to be the business hub of Southeast Asia and has an expansive shopping precinct located in the Orchard Road district. Many multistorey shopping centres are located at Orchard Road; the area also has many hotels, and it's the main tourism centre of Singapore, other than the Downtown Core. The local populace also use Orchard Road for shopping extensively.

Other than Orchard Road, Singapore's largest shopping centre, VivoCity, has also attracted millions of people since its opening in 2006.

Botanic Gardens
Nature Loving people should stop by at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. It is a large park located close to Orchard Road. Visitors can enjoy lush greenery and a beautiful orchid garden in the heart of the city. The National Orchid Garden is the main attraction of Singapore Botanic Gardens. A tropical rainforest of six hectares is another attraction of Singapore Botanic Gardens. The Botanic Gardens also have a Ginger Garden of about one hectare, with various types of gingers and a small waterfall.

It has lush green lawns and clubs / pubs housed in a white old colonial building. Quiet during the day, Chijmes comes alive at night with a number of restaurants, bars and live music venues clustered around a sunken courtyard. The Gothic Chapel, erected in 1890, is a showcase of plasterwork, delicate wall frescoes and stained glass.

Chinatown was once the hiding place for the people during the Japanese invasion of Singapore. It was also part of Sir Stamford Raffles' plan. In Chinatown alone, there are many places of interest, including mosques, temples, markets, parks, and shop houses. They have stood the test of time and are now treasured as memories of the past. Religious monuments are still being worshipped, and whenever there is an important occasion, streams of people can be seen visiting them.

City Hall

It is situated on St. Andrew's Road near the Padang, Singapore City. City Hall was the location of the formal surrender of the Japanese forces in Singapore when the Japanese general Itagaki handed over control to general Mountbatten after three years brutal occupation. The War Memorial in War Memorial Park commemorates the turbulence of WWII.

East Coast Park

East Coast Park is situated on the southeastern part of the island and it has the largest and the most popular park in Singapore. The 1.85 square kilometre East Coast Park is built entirely on reclaimed land with a man-made beach, where swimming is possible. The park is a popular place for families and friends to relax and enjoy themselves. The park has barbecue pits, entertainment facilities, chalets, food and beverage, and amenities for sports activities.

Fort Canning Park

Established way back in 1859 as an arms store, barracks and hospital, Fort Canning contains precious memorials of Singapore�s early history dating back to the 14th century and Sir Stamford Raffles' personal bungalow. Fort Canning is a popular venue for the arts, including sculpture exhibitions, plays and open-air ballet.

Maritime Museum
Your browser may not support display of this image. Singapore has always been a maritime city and today is one of the biggest ports in the world. This museum has the finest collection of ship models in Southeast Asia, rare ship charts, photographs, equipment and artifacts.

Singapore Zoological Gardens

The animals are kept in spacious, landscaped enclosures, separated from the visitors by dry or wet moats. Special attractions include Children's World, where kids can interact with animals and enjoy excellent playgrounds, the six island Primate Kingdom, the sea lion and penguin gallery, the air-conditioned polar bear exhibit and a miniature railway.
