Slipped Disc Treatment

A patient suffering from a Slip Disc condition may suffer little or no pain if the disc is the only tissue injured, to severe and unrelenting neck or low back pain that will radiate into the regions served by affected nerve roots.
Conditions that lead to slipped disc :
-- Aging with associated degeneration
-- Loss of elasticity of the discs and supporting structures;
-- Poor posture
-- habitual use of incorrect body mechanics
-- hard physical labour (delivery)
-- improper lifting, especially if accompanied by twisting or turning
-- excessive strain
-- sudden forceful trauma.
Usually Older People are likely to be patients because the elasticity and water content of the nucleus decreases with age. But nowdays it is seen that even the young people are also getting affected with slip disc, because of their life style and diet habits.
Slipped Disc Symptoms
The patient Suffering from slipped discs experiences- Numbness, weakness or pain in the shoulder, neck, arm, or hand. For slipped discs in the lower back, weakness or discomfort in the buttocks, back, legs, or feet. Pain with movement, straining, coughing or performing leg raises. Difficulty with controlling bowel movement or bladder function. Doctors in the Singapore hospital would advise minimum activity. In some cases bed rest, also application of hot or cold packs.
If you have pain which limit activity, any back pain that lasts more than a few days, or any back pain associated with numbness or weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, fever, or abdominal or chest pain. If in an accident a patient suffers injury that may suggest more significant back or neck problems, such as a fall from a height or a direct blow to the spine, then he should be atteneded on a priority basis.
